John Creighton Petersen of ArtNewWave is coming to Runaway May 21-22!

Mixed media fusion artist John Creighton Petersen of ArtNewWave is coming to Runaway to teach several of his wonderful mixed media classes. Christy had the chance to take a class from John at CHA earlier this year, and she really enjoyed it! She is very pleased that he was able to find time in his busy teaching schedule to come to the store.

He will be teaching three classes at Runaway, which are described below. Contact us at Runaway to get on the list and to guarantee you spot in class with an advance payment (they are likely to fill up fast – so don’t delay). You can learn more about John and his artistic approach at http://artnewwave.com/.

Carte Blanc Relic Decor, Saturday, May 21st 10 am to 5 pm (with lunch break)        $80

This technique driven workshop will introduce you to taking mixed media to the next level to create your own custom canvas built in multiple layers with texture, stunning colors and hidden treasures. You will learn how to create custom colors of texture pastes, layering and coloring a variety of embellishments, and making seamless backgrounds that can be used on a variety of different mixed media projects. The focal point of the completed canvas is the smaller ‘shrine’ in the middle of the canvas which holds your choice of Relic (from the Relics and Artifacts collection designed by Sandra Evertson) that has been hand colored and then sealed with resin.

Smaller Relics will also be colored and added to the canvas, along with smaller unique bezels that will also be set with resin.

A Reminder about our New Hours

Just wanted to remind everyone that Runaway’s hours are now 10 am to 6 pm on Wednesday thru Saturday. We remain open on Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. And we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

As always, our store hours do not necessarily affect attendance at classes and special events, since many of those are scheduled when we are otherwise closed to the public.

Runaway visits Comic Fest

Part of the Runaway gang (including Edgar Allan Crow, our lovely mascot) have wandered off to work the Northwest ComicFest at the Salem Convention Center on August 15 and August 16. But never fear, several intrepid and dedicated souls are keeping the store up and running — and did we mention our 4 for $1 sale on our 12 by 12 printed paper (excludes Graphic 45 and paper normally priced more than $1) as well as our 50% off sale on all printed paper pads (including Graphic 45)!

If you want to go see if Christy and Kelsey are really working (not to mention all the cool booths, classes and costumes), you can find more info about the Northwest Comic Fest at http://www.northwestcomicfest.com/.

A reminder about Runaway’s new hours

Runaway is now open Wednesday thru Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. We remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

So . . . what that means is that we will open and close an hour earlier than we used to on Wednesday thru Saturday. And that’s the only change! 🙂

“Run Away” from the Heat — We have A/C!

Just a reminder as you go about your business in this beautiful but sometimes overwhelming hot weather. You can always stop by Runaway to take a break from the heat.

Edgar Allan Crow is enjoying “weather” in the low 70s while the rest of the town faces the heat. And we have a water cooler!
