Exciting News!

By now you may have heard our news! We’re moving from downtown Salem to a new location in the Cherry City Center in South Salem. The address is 4675 Commercial Street SE, Salem, OR 97302, just south of WinCo on the west side of the street. We are currently closed just to get everything put together in this new space.

We really appreciate your patience during this interim period between stores. We plan to open up at the new location on Saturday, November 7th. We will retain our usual store hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm; Sunday 11am – 5pm.

We have some grand opening plans that we will be sharing soon. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the quickest updates.

You are going to love the new, spacious store! We have plenty of free parking. The larger classroom area will be wonderful for “safe” learning during these unusual times. There will be some new crafty companies coming in as part of our updated inventory.

Thanks so much for your ongoing support. We hope you are as pleased as we are with this new adventure!

What’s new at Runaway?

Runaway has added a new product line. Ink on 3 stamps, dies and stencils are now available! We are excited to hear what you think about them. You can see all of the items in our online catalog.

Hero Arts United As One stamp set

United As One by Hero Arts

From Hero Arts: Dana Joy, Pocono Pam and Hero Arts have partnered in a conscious effort to be intentionally diverse and inclusive. Crafters and cardmakers of color need to feel support, appreciation, and respect when expressing their values, experiences and skin tone in their work. We are celebrating this spirit through unity, and this collaboration is a pathway for everyone to see themselves in their art. We hope the United As One stamp set will encourage makers to become interested and committed to listening and learning from and about each other, and recognize we are all one, united creative community. 100% of net profits from this 6″ x 8″ stamp set will go to Racial Justice charities.

Celebrating Robin

Greenhouse Witch by Robin Bielefeld

Just wanted to take a moment to celebrate one of Runaway’s favorite artists — and a very good friend. Robin Bielefeld has drawn yet another of her marvelous coloring pages called “Greenhouse Witch.” This coloring page certainly reflects her wonderful  backyard! She is very sensitive to creating a place that supports bees, hummingbirds and butterflies and she makes an effort to create a garden that includes many native northwest plants.

Every one of her illustrations has a marvelous twist or two — or twenty! You can find cute creatures, pretty ladies and happy nature scenes. Runaway is proud to be the one of the few local stores to carry her work. We miss her leading Kaleidoscope Coloring Club and Drawing Night but look forward to the time we get to gather again. You can see all of her Flying Monkey Studio coloring pages we have at Runaway here in our Online Catalog

Artists in Action “Outside the Box” Auction comes to Runaway!

Runaway is so excited to be helping our local friends at Artists in Action (AIA) this year with their annual “Outside the Box” auction! Our store will be the showcase for the auction items: fabulous handmade boxes. All of the boxes up for bid will be displayed in our front windows from July 13 – 18th, 2020.

Traditionally AIA holds its auction at the Salem Art Fair, but because of health concerns the fair will not be happening at Bush Park this year, rather it will be an online event! So the show must go on and the auction will be done virtually as well. For full details on what it’s all about and how you can participate, go to AIA’s website: https://artistsinaction.org/events/outside-the-box/

Be sure to see all of the creativity on display during the week of July 13th in our front windows and bid on your favorites! Once the auction begins, the bidding site will go live at: https://artistsinaction.betterworld.org/.
